4. Creating tools and software for webmasters
Webmasters and internet developers need tools to help them service their
customers. Can you analyze a web page and count the number of keywords or find
the best keyword phrase for a page? People are willing to pay money for well
written programs that add to their current set of programs offered to their
customers.
Think about software programs that can help people and then come up with the
architecture and code then push it to your website and see who wants it.
You know where you can get ideas for software programs? From other people. My
mother-in-law gave me an idea that I am currently working on that could
generate some on going revenue and will keep my wife and her mother happy with
me.
So ask people at work, ball games, family functions and see what people want or
need. If you can't write it then contract with a company to produce it for you.
You will own the product and you just pay by the hour for the programming.
Once you create your product sell the software at $299 per cd or millions per
user. You can make additional money if you are willing to sell the source at
any point of time. Get a good software lawyer to write up a contract for you so
you don't get screwed by someone who takes your source, makes it better and
then corners the market leaving you with the scraps.
There are needs for an HTML verifier, a Keyword generator, and many kinds of
SEO tools.
5. Building websites and consulting
You have a good eye for website design? Then why not
build websites for businesses. There are many different ways to earn
money doing website design. You can charge by the page $100 or more. Charge
extra to host the page. Charge extra for database programming.
You can charge for domain name renewal, which means an on-going yearly income.
When these businesses want changes made then you can be there to help them make
the changes. You should be able to earn a constant revenue stream from new
customers, old customers and ideally referred customers.
This easily leads into ...
6. SEO consulting
SEO stands for search engine optimization. This is taking a web page and
improving the page by changes to content, meta tags, other html tags and links
from other sites to help the page's search position improve. Ideally you bring
the page to the first page on every search on certain strong key words.
Businesses are willing to pay big money to improve their search engine
position. Since few people go past page one when they are searching and almost
never go beyond page 3, SEO's that can take a page into the first thirty
searches can command a high income. This takes attention to detail and is
possibly one of the hardest things to get right and consistently stay on top.
Some of the keys to search engine optimization. Have the title meta tag be
relevant to the information on the page. Choose keywords that match the
content. Make the description sell the article, but also reinforce the
optimized keyword or key phrase.
The first and last paragraphs are paramount to scoring high on the search
engine algorithm and don't forget to hit hard on page rank.
7. Being an EBay Assistant Trader
These online auctions have provided some ambitious people with full time
incomes and full time staff. Like EBay, people place items to be auctioned and
then EBay receives a portion of the proceeds from the auction.
Companies can go out to friends and strangers and place items on EBay for them
and the company doing the work can take a percentage up to 35% of the revenue
generated. So talk to your friends and see if you can sell their stuff on EBay
so they don't have to do a garage sale.
You might want a digital camera to photograph the items to be sold. Start small
and learn how to do the business. A few small mistakes will ruin your
reputation and on EBay reputation is every thing.
Put a limit on size and minimum amount of the article to be sold. You have to
ship the article and you want to make it worth your while to sell the items.
8. Create your own search engine
This step where you create your own search engine or directory service is
dicey. It requires a large capital outlay in getting servers to handle the
potential traffic, but you could charge anywhere from $35 a site to $10 or more
per page. So if you can get it off the ground, advertise it well, there could
be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Google just went public and made
billions for their founders.
You probably need some programming savvy to develop your own robots and a
winning algorithm for providing the search results people want.
9. Web Page Directory service
This is very similar to step 8, but instead of a search engine, you provide a
directory. Every site is listed once under a specific keyword or topic like
programming/languages/syntax. Or some other obscure listing. Again you can earn
$35 a web site. Do it right it will bring you a fortune, do it wrong and you'll
have to start all over or no one will ever find you.
10. Write mini books
Find a topic you like. Write some general pages on the topic then allow your
readers to learn even more by buying a book from you. This can be published by
a renowned publisher and can be found in Borders or even on Amazon.
Or you can do self-publishing through a print on demand printer.
These printers will allow you to request a printing of your book, one book at a
time. So your initial outlay is relatively small for a book printing. You have
confidence in your writing skills then this is definitely a low cost solution
with the potential for high rewards.
There you have ten terrific ideas for making money on the internet. None of
these ideas even talked about manufacturing a product in your basement that you
own the exclusive patent. All these ideas can be started by an individual at
home working in their spare time.
So no more excuses. Turn the TV off and start making money.
