Make a promise to stay away from
the potato chips. That's rule number one. After about 4 servings of potato
chips and dips, you will be over the calorie chart. Now Tostitos and salsa
might not be too bad, because the salsa is relatively low on calories. Even
that is not perfect. The veggie tray is always a good choice. Especially if you
can stay away from the dip that normally accompanies the veggies. Still the
veggies are a better choice than the potato chips.
Drink of choice. This will be a hard choice for many people. It will be an
alcholic drinking day for some. Very high in calories. Choose the light beers
and easy on the mixed drinks. I highly recommend you stay away from the colas
and sweetened drinks. 3 cans of pop and you are in sugar heaven. Choose to
drink water if you can. Especially, if you eat salty foods all night. It will
help bring your body back to equilibrium faster if you are drinking water.
Nobody expects you to be perfect on a party night. It is possible, but
improbable. Choose to mix and match the good with the bad. If you go in and
say, I am choosing water over any other drink and you are successful with that,
then you will feel good about your choices for the rest of the night. It will
help motivate you the following week.
So how did I eat today? For breakfast I had 1 scrambled egg, 2 servings of
instant grits, a tablespoon of butter, 6 ounces of milk and 8 ounces of orange
juice. The milk is 2% milk. I know it must seem boring to you, that I have this
everyday. But I truly love it.
I did walk 3 miles and I weightlifted. The snow pack is still heavy in most
spots. Today's walk was through a park in Warrenville, Illinois. The park runs
alongside the west branch of the DuPage river. There are two creeks that you
cross, that feed into the river. So with the melting snow, it was almost 50
degrees today, the creeks were gurgling and the river was rushing. So I enjoyed
the sounds of the walk today. There were a couple of small sparrow type birds
flitting and chirping.
Lunch was a sliced turkey sandwich, two slices of bread, butter, and a serving
of green beans. For supper we went to Panera Bread and had half a sandwich and
soup.
I am happy with today's eating and exercising and I look forward to tomorrow.
Good luck on your eating and exercising today! And may your favorite team win
the Superbowl. And most importantly, enjoy the commercials.
