and try again. There is no shame
in trying and then failing. You look in the mirror and say today is the day I
succeed.
Did you exercise today? Were you able to get
outside and walk? Did you take the time to lift weights? Did you do Yoga or run
or play basketball? I remember about 3 years ago I was playing basketball three
times a week and I went for my annual checkup at the doctor's office. He
couldn't believe how thin and young I looked.
The group played basketball from 5 am until 7 am. So two hours of running up
and down a basketball court. I finally quit, because of the impact to my knees.
I don't want to be one of these 75 year olds that destroyed their knees in
their youth and now they can't walk. So now I am down to walking instead of
playing basketball.
But that is okay to me. There is such joy in walking. It really gives you a
chance to clear your mind and to enjoy nature on a different level. Most of us
go to a park maybe once a year. We stand in awe at the beauty of nature.
Imagine if you were experiencing that beauty every single day. I don't mean you
have to go to a park everyday. The changing landscape of the nature around your
house is just as fascinating. You won't see the wonder of it all until you see
it everyday.
For breakfast I had one scrambled egg , 2 servings of Instant Grits with
butter, 6 ounces of milk and 8 ounces of orange juice. Lunch was quick with a
turkey sandwich with Colby Jack cheese, 2 slices of bread, a tablespoon of mayo
and 1 serving of green beans. Plus, later in the afternoon I had a candy bar,
an extra 250 calories.
Dinner was 2 hot dogs, 2 slices of bread, a serving and a half of potato chips
and 1 apple. Sometimes it is simple foods and simple menus that help you on
your way. The amount of preparation time was minimal. The food was good, but I
limited it to a manageable amount and I think I did okay.
I have definitely changed my habit of eating large amounts of Christmas
cookies, candy and candy bars. I am losing weight. Not large amounts. But, I
notice my pants fitting me better. My belt doesn't feel quite so tight. The
diet is working.
You keep doing the right things most times. Keep your spirits up. Eat right and
try to get a good nights sleep and you will lose weight also.
