I Almost Missed It
I was so busy working on a new project that I hadn't been spending much time
looking at my stats pages. I knew it was coming. I had calculated toward the
end of July that somewhere mid-way through the month of August I was going to
go over the halfway goal for the year.
Officially, On August 7th, 2008 I achieved the distinction of having 500,000
Page Views for the year. Yahoo!!! Here is a brief rundown of my numbers.
Search Engine Numbers
Interesting things to look at is the amount of traffic I receive from the
search engines. Currently, that number is at 76.72% of my traffic comes from
all search engines. I need to go back and update some of my pages for better
search engine optimization. I find it fascinating that I get those kind of
numbers from the search engines especially Google, since Google smacked me for
selling links on my site. How dare I try to make money on MY BLOG without the
official consent of the all powerful Google.
My official Page Rank is still zero according to the toolbar. But, I am now
following all their rules and I still get a ton of search engine traffic. I
guess I need to apologize to the gods at Google to get reinstated into the
club.
The Entrecard Effect
I like that my page views per visitor is at 2+. I think the Entrecard effect
makes that number lower than it should be, but I am happy with that for now. I
know that many people are doing a search on a particular topic. They go to one
page, get the answer they need and leave. So, the ability to still keep that
number high say's a lot about the people that are finding many pages on my site
to visit, read and enjoy. Thank you! You know who you are!
I complain about the Entrecard bounce rate, it's currently at 90.5%, but I have
to admit my visitor statistics wouldn't be this high without the Entrecard
traffic service. Thank you Graham and Phirate from Entrecard and most
importantly thank you Entrecarders that visit me each day. I truly do
appreciate you taking the time to stop by. As a side note to Entrecard, my
StumbleUpon bounce rate is 45.07%.
How You Can Replicate These Numbers
Now, you might be wondering what I do to get numbers like this? Can you
replicate my success? Assuming that you think these numbers represent success.
I can share with you what I have done up to this point to reach this goal. I
definitely have worked on my SEO. You can find the simple things I have done on
each page to increase my chances of being at the top of the SERPS. Check out

Traffic doesn't just happen. Sometimes you have to tweak and cajole more
traffic to your site. Here is a popular article,
Ten Things to Make Your Blog Successful that shows the points I
think have worked for me up to this point.
Getting Blog Traffic is like Going Fishing.
Getting Blog traffic is like going fishing. Just because you have a fishing
pole and a hook doesn't mean you are going to catch anything. You have to place
bait on the hook. Then you have to wait for the fish to find you. Then you need
to carefully reel the fish into your hands. If you start reeling in before the
fish has "set" on the hook means you lose the fish.

A New Blog Traffic Generating Site Coming Soon
I have it on good authority that a new blog traffic generating site is
launching sometime in September, that should really step up traffic to my site.
I will give more details when it goes live. From what I hear, $30 a month will
get you 500 to 2,000 more visitors per day.
Thanks again for all of you that have come back more than once this year. I
appreciate that you have visited me often and have read more than one of my
articles.
