A group of us were talking basketball at work on friday and we began discussing
the NBA logo. One of the guys, Jeff, said it was based upon the famous, Jerry
West poster. He forwarded the photo and the logo and you can definitely see the
similarities.
I remember that Jerry West was huge in the 60's with a tremendous work ethic.
Jerry West and the LA Lakers were synomous with the success of the NBA.
But, if the logo was reworked today would it be different. Would it look more
like the Nike Jordan Logo?
Should the NBA fill in the logo to a color of black to represent who the great
players of today are? Let's face it the majority of the NBA are black guys. I
might add very talented black guys.

My predictions for the NBA Finals - Celtics in 4 games. Game two starts
tonight.
Lakers Whine After Losing Game 2
Well the first half of game 2 is over, the Celtics are up and the announcers
for ABC are whining like a couple of school girls. Dumbest comment by the
announcer. "We should not have a limit of fouls for the super stars like Kobe
Bryant." Really he said that. I didn't realize I was watching the Laker
network. I thought it was ABC Sports. Finally, the referees are actually
calling fouls on Kobe. He gets away with some of the worst fouls. He holds, he
pushes and whines and the referees never call him on anything. Finally some
referees with some kahunas.
There is still a half to go and the Lakers aren't done yet. They are pretty
close considering they are playing like crap.
Well the game is over and the Lakers came back strong but were unable to
overcome the huge lead that the Celtics had built the first 3 quarters. Let's
see what the sports writers are writing about the game. Ian Thomsen of SI.Com
say's,
Don't Count Out Kobe & Co. just yet. According to Ian, the
Lakers lost because they don't have Bynum playing because of an injury.
So, all the talk about Gasol being on the team now and he wasn't there when the
Celtics and Lakers played their previous two games of the year. Gasol was
supposed to make all the difference. Now, the Lakers were going to be able to
match up. But, it didn't happen. Gasol had a great game. Lakers lost. So, the
whiney Lakers now say, "it's because we don't have Bynum."
"Unstoppable Force" Scores 30 but Loses
Let's face it. The "unstoppable force" known as Kobe Bryant had a great game
scoring 30 points. The Celtics didn't even play defense on him in the 4th
quarter. Lakers lost. The whistles weren't one sided. The difference was the
Lakers weren't moving their feet on defense. They were standing around using
hand checks instead of playing hard team defense.
With all the talk of the Lakers great play of Kobe, it seems people missed the
fact that Paul Pierce of Boston had a great game too. Pierce scored 28 points
and had the same number of rebounds and assists as the Laker's, Bryant. How about 2nd
year man Powe who played for only 15 minutes and he scored 21 points.
The Celtics show that TEAM play is always better than having just one superstar.
The series isn't over yet. The whining from the Lakers and especially Kobe
isn't over yet. Before the series started I predicted the Celtics in four. In
LA, Kobe will get all his calls. Kobe is nothing without all the 3 point
specialists on the team like Derek Fisher, Vujacic and Vladimir Radmanovic. The
Lakers aren't out yet. Three games at home. The Celtics will have to learn to
play the entire game and not just 3 quarters.
