I just finished posting about Ten Things to Make Your Blog Successful in 2008. But, then I was sitting quietly and realized I forgot to tell the Number One Trait that will make you RICH. Did you know that today we are inundated with noise?

As you are writing your blog, do you have the TV on? Is the radio running in the background? Is your iPod playing your favorite tune in your ears? Do you thrive with the noise going on? Do you tell others that you can't, pick one, program, blog, do anything on the web, without something in the background?

When you are on the computer are you so busy Stumbling, Digging and Entecarding that you don't have time to just sit and think? Is it okay to use the word Entrecard as a verb? :) I want to offer a new trait that will show a surge in you making good decisions and will help you make more money in 2008.

What is the trait you need to learn?

What is the trait you need to learn? You need to learn to be quiet and listen. Listen to who you might ask? Listen to my customers? Listen to my readers? Listen to other bloggers? Nope.

I recommend you take the time to turn off all the electronics, move away from the computer and be quiet. The quiet time will give you some time to just listen to your own brain. You feed so much information to that great computer you carry with you everyday. It has been programmed over hundreds of thousands of years to capture data and to process that data.

We spend a lot of time capturing data in today's electronic extremes. But, how much time are you spending processing the data? If your computer's cpu is busy cranking and sorting data, it doesn't have time to produce reports. This is the same for you. Your brain and body needs the time to port out the reports.

I Can Hear You Complaining Way Over Here.

I can hear some of you complaining already. Your cries of anguish over the kids in the background, your spouse or loved one needing your attention, or even the small house you live in. I didn't say it would be easy. For years as the kids were growing up I would get up an hour early each day. My wife would sleep as late as possible.

But, I would get up and read. I would think of new things, money making opportunities. It was so quiet. No distractions. I could go stay focused on my thoughts.

How long should you listen for? Try 15 minutes to a half hour. Thirty minutes would be good. You will find a nice time that works for you. How often? It is best if you do it everyday. But, 3 times a week will go a long way to helping you come up with good ideas and will help you be more creative.

If you are thinking of doing this exercise then you might want to add this little twist. Have you already set your goals for 2008? Then before going into the quiet, take a moment to review your goals. Now you are ready. Now sit and listen. Don't drink coffee. Don't tap your fingers. Sit quietly. It's hard. We are all so wound up from the time we get up to the time we go to bed. But, just sit quietly. Think. And Listen?

Just Listen

Listen to what? Just listen. You will know it when you hear it. Don't write anything down until you are done listening. Just be quiet and listen. Try listening for once. It will change your life.
